St. Nick

Santa pictures are always so funny to me.  They are never good.  I mean rarely do you actually see a Santa picture and think, "WOW, now THAT is mantle worthy."  Nope, they're always awkward and the kids are either crying or look petrified.  But, for some reason we all have them taken anyway.  It's what we're supposed to do, right?  Don't get me wrong, we talk about Santa all the time at our house...Tripp finally knows who he is this year...but, if my kids told me they didn't want to go sit on his lap at the mall, I'd be 100% fine with that.  It's always an afterthought for me.  As in, where can I squeeze in a visit during the busy holiday season.  I'd rather read the kids books about him and tell stories about him.  It makes him seem more magical that way.  But, until they tell me otherwise, I'll continue to take them to see him.

So, with that being said, this year we went on a Monday afternoon and it was the BEST time to visit.  NO crowds/lines, a few extra minutes to allow the kids to warm up before snapping the photos, and a chance to re-do the picture in case the first round of pics was terrible (and that's just what we did).  I have to laugh though because we still didn't get any great photos, but if anything, it's fun to compare this years picture to the previous years to see how much they've (really Tripp at this point) grown.

I took these pictures with my own camera.  They are almost as good as the real thing.  Poor Camille kept sliding into the middle of his lap.

And finally the professional photo...yep, this was our best shot!
