"ELT on the SHELT"

I can't end all my Christmas posts and not mention our special house guest this season.  He has been cleverly named "ELT on the SHELT" and he is in fact an "ELF on the SHELF".  I'm hoping we will rename him next year when Tripp's creative juices are flowing a bit more.

For those that don't know the story behind him, he's a little elf that visits your family each year during the Christmas season and reports your behavior to Santa each night.  He returns from the North Pole before any children wake up.  The fun part of his return is finding where he landed and what type of mischief he may have gotten himself into overnight.  Every family that participates has their own elf.  Nobody is allowed to touch him or he will lose his magic.  Tripp didn't fully understand the concept, but always had fun searching for him in the morning.  He loved coming down the stairs to check the mantle, the tree, the chandelier, the bookshelf, etc., to see if he could spot our elf.  There is also an "Elf on the Shelf" movie and book that we watched and read many times throughout the past month.  I'm happy we get to retire those for awhile, but we will be ready to get them back out next year.

Hopefully we made our special friend feel welcome.  See you in 11 months little guy!

Christmas Day

We all woke up Christmas morning and headed downstairs to open gifts.  It was amazing to watch Tripp's face light up when he came down the stairs and saw everything sitting out.  I don't think he really understood the difference between the gifts Santa left and the ones from us and everyone else, but it was fun to watch him open them.  Get ready for picture overload because we took quite a few on Christmas Day.

A picture of the tree before any of the gifts were opened.  I couldn't wait for Tripp to see his new easel.

The wrapping paper is soooooo cool!!!

Opening his stocking from Santa while we waited for Aunt Alli and Chris to arrive.

The boy loves dinosaurs.

Trying on his awesome painting smock.

I gave Rob some new hiking boots and Tripp wanted to try them on.

Every good Christmas morning includes watching the parade on TV.
