December 2013

December is always packed full of activities and flies by in a flash. Among all the hustle and bustle, we tried to sit back and enjoy every moment and remind the kids (and ourselves) of the real reason for the season. Although I think people can go overboard on many of the smaller holidays, I do feel Christmas should be an exception. It is such a special time of the year and needs to be spent celebrating Jesus' birth with family and friends as much as possible.

December started and ended with this cute face keeping me on my toes.

We spent time enjoying and re-decorating the tree.

I went to Parent Chapel Day to see Tripp in his Chapel class. I watched the kids sing the worship songs they were learning. Tripp was so excited for me to be there. He sat at the back of the group so we could be close.

Camille worked hard on spoon feeding herself. She is now at the point where she doesn't want me to help.

We had some time outs. Little sister likes to comfort big brother when he is sad.

We acted silly in morning carpool.

"We" decorated a tree for Tripp's room.

We played baby dolls.

We had our annual cookie decorating get-together at the Koetter's house. I didn't take many photos that day, but the kids had fun, as always.

Sweet Amelia is the newest addition to our group. She was too small to participate in the cookie decorating this year, but it won't be long before she is dumping M&Ms on cookies of her own.

We celebrated the Donlin triplets' 1st birthday at their house. I still cannot believe Julie and Desmond have 3 children that are all the same age!

One of the triplets, Dylan.

Camille and Tripp had fun playing with the triplets' toys. It's always nice to play with new things that we don't have at our house.

Tripp, Naomi, and Tobey had fun dancing around the family room.

The big kids even got the little ones to bust a move.

Tripp's school had a Christmas Program. It was adorable watching the kids sing. We were slightly nervous about how he would do since he cried and cried on stage at the Spring performance. But what do you know, he was front and center and sang his little heart out. Not one tear. Not once ounce of fear. I was so proud of him. I'm sure it helped to have lots of family there cheering him on.

This picture makes me laugh. He was extremely into the song.

Camille was perfect during the performance and clapped for all the children on stage.

Tripp was so happy to walk past his family on the way out.

We met back in the classroom to pick-up Tripp and check out his artwork.

It was a later night than usual, but these two were still smiling.

We enjoyed playing in the tub. Don't mind the bruise on Camille's forehead. It was still healing from when she fell and bumped her head on the train table in November. Poor girl took the fall like a champ. She had the biggest knot on her head, but only cried a minute or two tops. Sister is tough!

Remote obsession. I'm pretty sure all children go through this phase at some point or another.

Parents are invited to the Christmas parties at Tripp's school so I went to Tripp's class and celebrated with him, his classmates, and the other parents.

Tripp was getting a little hyped up and antsy toward the end of the picture process. Most of the kids were.

We had to get a few pictures with his teacher, Mrs. Dawn. Her husband got a new job in Texas and this was her last day. We were so sorry to see her go. We were lucky though because Mrs. Erin, the assistant teacher, moved into the head teacher position and we only had to meet one new teacher when school started back in January.

And of course, Camille loved on Layla. Layla is so sweet and always tolerates Camille climbing all over her.

There is that remote again. I had to take the batteries out of it. At one point, she messed with the remote so much we couldn't figure out how to turn the T.V. on.

We spent a freezing cold night walking around the Atlanta Botanical Gardens with good friends. At first, we were a little disappointed and not sure we'd actually get in to see the sold out lights display. We'd purchased tickets on Scout Mob, but didn't notice the fine print that said we still had to go though one more step to redeem the tickets. It all worked out eventually and after about 30 minutes of waiting for others to walk out (the park was at max capacity), they let our group in.

The kids entertained each other while we waited. This bought us a little time and prevented us from having to take Camille out of the stroller right away.

Yay! We were in!

Guy and his niece Payton. She is a very mature 12 year old and was a wonderful help with Tripp. He thought she was the coolest.

It was FREEZING! My hands were numb by the end of the night. I'm glad I brought warm hats for Tripp and Camille. She had to use one of his old beanies. Atlanta is usually not that cold in December and I hadn't purchased a girly one yet.

I'd say it was a successful night. A great time was had by all. We ended the night with hot chocolates (the warmth felt heavenly on my hands) and roasted marshmallows. We were in full Christmas spirit and felt excited about the next two days to come.
