3 weeks old

We went back for another check-up at the Pediatrician on Friday and here are Camille's 3 week stats:

Length: 20.9 inches (53%)
Head Circumference: 14.3 inches ( 41%)

Overall, our little family has adjusted well to our new addition.  Tripp really loves his baby sister and will say "It's a Camille" anytime he's talking about her.  He loves to tell us when "Camille's sleeping" or "Camille's ki-rin (crying)".  We frequently have to tell him to be gentle or to let her sleep since he constantly wants to touch her, but I'm thankful he adores her as much as he does.  Our biggest challenge thus far has been her reflux and not wanting to sleep much.  Tripp was a constant spitter-upper, but he always remained happy when he did it.  Camille, on the other hand, rarely spits up, but is in lots of pain from her "silent" reflux.  It's so bad that you can actually hear it when she's eating. She often pulls away from me while nursing and screams her head off.  When I went to her appointment on Friday and talked to Dr. Overcash about her symptoms, the doctor agreed that it sounded like she has pretty bad reflux.  She started her on a medication called Zantac, which won't cure the reflux, but will help it be a lot less painful until that little GI tract matures.  Camille is on the max dose for her weight since she seems to be so uncomfortable all the time.  I'm hoping this helps her sleep a little better too.  I do realize that no newborn sleeps well, but I know the amount of sleep a newborn should be getting and Camille doesn't come close to that.  Every baby wakes up every few hours in the beginning, but they should be sleeping in between feedings.  This hasn't been the case for Miss Camille.  It takes her somewhere in the realm of an hour to an hour and a half to settle down after each feeding and by then, it's time to eat again.  I'm really hoping the Zantac works so we don't have to try a stronger medication, but I'm willing to do whatever I can to help my baby.  After I left the Ped's office on Friday, I went straight to the pharmacy to drop of her prescription and she got her first dose that night.  We think we are seeing some improvement and hope this continues.  Rob and I would really benefit from a couple more hours of zzzzz's each night!  I'll be sure to update on her progress soon.  In the meantime, here are a few pictures of our first few weeks at home.

So in awe of his new baby sister

We were discharged home on a gameday so Camille HAD to sport her UGA attire!

She was so jaundiced that first week.

First bath at home.  As you can see, she didn't love it.

Tripp and Rob take a lil' kickers soccer class on Saturdays and love it.  Camille and I sit in the stands and cheer them on.

Tripp wanted to sit in Grammy's car before she left.  He also wanted Camille to sit with him.  Too cute!

Pepere and Camille

I love this one.  Tripp just loves his Pepere.

Tripp enjoys holding his little sister.  He'll say, "Have Camille" and hold out his arms.  I don't mind as long as we're sitting down.

I love the cross-eyed look newborns get as they try to focus.

Focused on playing games on the iPhone

Lyla and Camille.  Lyla loves babies!
